This entry is mainly for the readers who do not follow politics as much as they might like.

I would like you introduce you to U.S. Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio).

Why am I introducing you to him? Because you have never heard of him.

More specifically, though, because his ideology might just be a lot closer to your own than any of the Democrat frontrunners.

His views on major issues. Take a look at that list.

I do not agree with all of his platform, but I know it is probably closer to what the majority of my readership would want than any other candidate.

I will leave as an exercise for the readers what this says about the Democratic Party, the media, and for the primary system we currently have in place.

Check him out.

He ran in the last presidential primary and I voted for him. Yay. He also has a group on livejournal that is not active anymore really. But I totally love him because he actually takes stands on things.

I think Kucinich is amazing and has serious backbone. I agree with him on a whole bunch of issues...I love his stance on creating federal gun control laws, too. (Who'd have thunk it...a gun nut backing Kucinich.)

Also, he gave me a hug for "being green" when I biked to see him at Harvard in 2004. Super props.

He's truly an awesome guy. I think of him as a real-life President Bartlet.

Oh, I've heard of him. As I understand it, the people of Cleveland, OH, still remember what a a disaster he was as mayor from 1977 to 1979.

He made some unpopular decisions (as well as some that could probably best be described as "youthful mistakes"), but in the end he stood his ground and made a decision to keep the municipal electric company, a decision that, 15 years later, was definitely the right decision to make.

I suppose the telling point is that while he was not reelected as mayor of Cleveland, these days they continue to overwhelmingly send him as their US Representative.
